Maria Milisavljevic Wins 2025 Mülheim Drama Prize for "Staubfrau"

Playwright Maria Milisavljevic has been awarded this year's prestigious Mülheim Drama Prize for her play Staubfrau. Commissioned by Schauspielhaus Zürich, the piece intertwines women’s personal histories with themes of resistance against structural violence.
According to the jury, Staubfrau explores issues such as gender-based violence and femicide. They praised Milisavljevic’s writing as “both poetic in style and unflinching in substance.” In addition to the main prize, she was also honored with the Audience Award, making her a double laureate at this year’s festival.
