Description
Three people whose fates are brought together by war. Eatherly, an air force pilot, refuses an order to bomb a school in which civilians would die. He will never board his aircraft again. A boy documents the fighting with his dead father’s camera, thereby fulfilling his father’s final wish: to capture the horror for eternity. The footage will later make him famous, just as it does Naomi, whose father, a soldier, survives an air raid by sheer chance. She, too, seeks through art to express the scars that war has left on her.
Maya Arad Yasur weaves together three individual stories, creating a multi-voiced panorama of horror for which words are scarcely adequate.
Reviews
‘“It’s a mixture of symphony and Netflix series … a tragicomic tale about how war is a compulsive necessity within the human system.”’
‘“Arad Yasur writes vividly, clearly and movingly. Her characters are ambivalent, and their stories are intricately interwoven.”’
