EXITEERS
Description
What kind of flat is it that the woman and the man find themselves in? How did they get in here, who lives here, and who locked the door? The two of them cannot remember their own identities, the circumstances that brought them together, or their relationship to one another. Did the government really demand that they surrender their memory cards, thereby bringing them to this place and leaving them in this state? But why would they have agreed to that? There is no logical explanation for any of it. Only one thing is clear: if they want to get out of this apartment, they have no choice but to discover who they are — and, in doing so, perhaps find the key to the final door.
In EXITEERS, confinement is not merely a matter of physical space. Maya Arad Yasur also uses it to explore an inner state: being trapped in one's own story, the blueprint of a life, or the contemplation of a biography never lived. But if the two are trapped above all within themselves, do the doors really lead outside, or do they only take them ever deeper into the subconscious? A fascinating, double-layered exploration of existence and of life's escape room, in which nothing is ever certain.
